Robert Hay, Jr

Robert Hay, Jr. joined ASAE in July 2006 as the Manager of Public Policy/Grassroots and works as a lobbyist tasked with maintaining ASAE's grassroots program. Hay recently organized the successful American Associations Day 2011, ASAE's legislative fly-in, which brought a record number of association executives from across the country to our nation's capital to advocate for the repeal of the 1099 reporting requirement. In addition, he coordinates ASAE's Alliance Forum Series, an off-the-record series of talks for grassroots members featuring leading policy makers and members of Congress. He is a member of the American League of Lobbyists (ALL) and a board member of ALL's Young Leadership Network.

Prior to coming to ASAE, Hay worked in government relations at the American Veterinary Medical Association, where in addition to grassroots, he was responsible for monitoring and advocating on such diverse issues such as disaster relief, health care, and student loan repayment. Hay's love of the Senate and all things legislatively arcane came from interning in the U.S. Senate for then-Majority Whip Harry Reid of Nevada in 2002.

Hay received his MA in Congressional Studies and BA in Politics, and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate from The Catholic University of America.
