Laura C. Perrotta, PLC
Laura is originally from Elmira, NY, and received her B.A. in Political Science from Salisbury State University in MD. Laura worked at the Maryland General Assembly for Delegate Norman Conway who is the current Chairman of the Appropriations Committee. After working for Delegate Conway, Laura went to work for the Mayor of Salisbury, Mayor Barrie Tilghman. Laura had the opportunity to tackle a variety of issues working for Delegate Conway and then Mayor Tilghman including the Capitol Budget, environment issues, city planning and community development.
Laura worked on Capitol Hill with Congressman Amo Houghton’s office from the 29th District of New York. Laura maintained the Congressman’s frenetic schedule while at the same time handling environmental issues and environmental appropriations for the Congressman.
Laura moved to the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) where she worked as the Assistant Director of Government Relations. In this position, Laura lobbied on education issues and earmark appropriations while simultaneously running NCRA’s Political Action Committee. She has been successful at running grassroots campaigns for schools which, in turn, have helped them to secure Federal funds from Congress.
Laura opened her own lobbying shop and consulting firm, L. Dennis & Associates Inc., in 2007. She worked with clients on a variety of issues and concerns including marketing, appropriations, labor issues, workforce development and judicial issues.
Laura simultaneously worked with the firm Miller/Wenhold Capitol Strategies, LLC, http://www.mwcapitol.com, where she focused on workforce development, non-profit funding and client development.
Laura is currently the Director of Government Relations at the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) where she runs their lobbying shop, serves as PAC Treasurer, and focuses on transportation safety issues.
In addition to Laura’s work with ATSSA, she is a Board member of the American League of Lobbyists (ALL). Laura is Chair of the Education Committee for the ALL. She helped assist the League in their efforts to establish a certification program for lobbyists and earned her certification in 2006. Laura was also the Event Coordinator for the ALL Capitol PurSuit Drive for the past five years that took place on Capitol Hill. The suit drives were successful at collecting over 30,000 suits from Members of Congress, Hill staff organizations and lobbyists to give to people who want to enter the workforce but cannot afford to buy a suit. Laura is also a member of the American Society of Association Executives.
