    Volunteer Outreach Coordinator - Dual City

    This position focuses first to recruit, manage, and serve as the customer service representative for all volunteer activities and projects of two specific Avon Walk for Breast Cancer events - one that is in their local city and one in a city other than their own. The goal for this position is to raise awareness in local communities of the event and to enhance walkers' experience through the support of local merchants and citizens.     Experienced Lobbyist

    During 2008, Marlowe & Company seeks to fill a position for a person who has had at least one full year of actual experience lobbying Congress. This person will serve as a Senior Public Affairs Advisor. In that capacity, he/she will be given one or more of the firm's existing clients to become familiar with under the mentorship of a current staff member. During this initial period, the person will have direct contact with both the client and Congress, and may also have contact with one or more executive branch agencies.

    Each of our lobbyists must do monthly and other reports for clients, as well as write other materials needed during the course of the work we do to represent a client. Excellent writing skills are a must in this position.

    Marlowe & Company was established in 1984. Our clients are municipalities, counties, and, to a lesser extent, nonprofits. We seek an individual who wants to work for this type of client.

    There will be travel required with this position. We make at least two visits to each client every year, as well as attending conferences. Initially, we anticipate this will involve less than 3 days a month of travel.

    We have 10 full-time employees that work out of our sole office in Washington, DC. The firm provides excellent fringe benefits and good office working conditions. We have employer-paid health insurance (Carefirst) for the individual and we pay part of the cost of the premiums for other family members. We have a 401(k) pension plan and provide employer-paid disability insurance as well as life insurance.

    We compensate our employees using an annual salary that is competitive with the market for similar positions in Washington, DC. Salary for the individual we seek will be based on the qualifications and level of experience of the applicant we select.

    We have no deadline for either making a hiring decision or receiving applications. When we have found what we believe to be the "right person," we will close the application and interview process.

    Coordinator — Government Relations

    The 140,000 member American Society of Civil Engineers seeks an energetic, highly organized person with an understanding of government relations to assist our six-person government relations department in Washington, DC.

    Responsibilities include: maintaining Key Contact member databases, assisting in preparation and distribution of documents, coordinating meeting arrangements both in house and on Capitol Hill, responding to member and public inquiries, basic office management, and maintaining files and records.

    The ideal candidate will be detail oriented with strong writing, speaking, and computer skills, works well with others, and has an excellent telephone manner. The candidate should have two years work experience as an Administrative Assistant or related position, with Congressional, lobbying, association or professional society office preferred.

    VP of Communications

    Nonprofit Trade Association Seeking VP of Communications. The Education Finance Council, a Washington, D.C.-based trade association representing nonprofit student loan providers, is seeking a Vice President of Communications and Industry Relations to manage the organization’s media relations and grassroots activities. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years experience in media relations. Prior experience on Capitol Hill or with a trade association is a plus. The VP will be the primary point of contact for all media inquiries to the association; will be responsible for developing and coordinating the grassroots activities of the membership; and will take a leadership role in all materials representing the organization, including its online presence.
