The ALL Lobbying Certificate Program (LCP) was established in January 2006 to fill a void in the lobbying profession and to set a new standard of expertise for future lobbyists. To survive, much less succeed, in Washington's complex political environment, a lobbyist must have not only an in-depth knowledge of legislative and political processes, but also a comprehensive understanding of the rules and regulations governing lobbying. Until the advent of this program, training was at best fragmented and at worst, nonexistent.
The LCP brings together all the elements essential to successful lobbying. Experts from a wide variety of backgrounds conduct the 15 individual sessions which together comprise the certificate. The program is designed to appeal to both experienced practitioners seeking to deepen their understanding of certain elements, as well as newcomers to the field who need a broad educational experience. Sessions may be taken on an individual basis or in preparation for earning the entire certificate. Those seeking the final certificate need a total of 11 sessions including the five core, required sessions (marked with an asterisk* below).
All sessions are held in Washington, D.C. but are also offered by teleconference for individuals living or working outside the metro area.
This program could not have been launched without the financial support of several individuals and organization that were convinced of its value. Therefore, we offer our thanks to the following for their generous support:
Over 500 individuals have attended various LCP sessions so far, demonstrating the need for and value of the program. To date, 23 lobbyists have completed the full requirements and been awarded the Professional Lobbying Certificate (PLC):
